The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. best rated robot vacuum to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they are.
For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd think from its price. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. ( talking to was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes.
